Joseph P. Dusel
I was born and raised in Western Massachusetts. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Anselm College in 1972 and my Juris Doctor from Western New England University School of Law in 1978. I was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in June 1979 and have been in private practice ever since.

Over the years, I've practiced civil litigation, business law, real estate, probate, and contract law. With the adoption of the Massachusetts Uniform Probate Code in 2012, I began focusing part of my practice on probate estates and administration, guiding clients through estate settlement, asset distribution, and fiduciary responsibilities. I also represent clients in small business matters, including entity formation, organizational structure, and general business transactions.

Probate Administration
I will guide you through the complex probate process, from marshaling the estate's assets and securing appointment as personal representative to inventorying assets, paying debts and taxes, and distributing to heirs or beneficiaries. I work with your accountant and tax adviser regarding the preparation of personal and estate tax filings as needed and explore options for closing the estate.
Small Business Representation
I assist clients with forming and organizing business entities such as corporations and limited liability companies, drafting operating agreements and bylaws, and advising on routine business transactions to help establish and maintain your enterprise on solid legal footing. I work with your accountant and tax advisers to ensure that your business structure aligns with your financial and tax planning goals.
